The Jerusalem Harp Bridge still stands tall.

Image
The interesting thing about this bridge that it looks different depending upon where you are in the city.  a view that I took on the way into the city a few days ago.  The bridge is standing straight up.  Other places it looks like it it lying down.  Amazing! This an all of the pictures on this blog were taken by me using a cellphone.  This was taken with a Galaxy Note 2. Jerusalem for now and forever! Jews for Jews and Keep Israel Strong!

Image
thi  The symbol of Jerusalem was aptly chosen.  We are the hidden lions. When we are attacked we grow stronger.  The Public has had enough with false compassion on those who would harm us. We need action to protect our public places, our men, our women, our children.  Must we hide?  No, let us be strong like the lion and defend ourselves with a roar that will be heard around the world! Am Yisrael Chai! I'm not afraid to put my  name: Rachael Alice Orbach

We say Goodbye to the Succah, but not after taking a picture

Image
The Succot Holiday this year was very special with many memories, the thunder storm, the wind,  a concert, and it being a Shmitta year, already there are some vegetables that have "Kidushat Shmitta" so we have to be very careful with them.   Enjoy and keep the memories fresh throughout the year! The view of Givat Shaul Industrial section

Image
You can see History in the making in Jerusalem.  This area used to be the Kanfei Nesharim airport over 60 years ago, but now it is a bustling industrial and shopping center in the western part of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is still surrounded by the forest, giving the city its "green lung."  Rachael Alice Orbach                http://lifecoachjerusalem.weebly.com/

Jerusalem just gets more beautiful everyday!

A look from the past! Rachael demonstrating in 2000

Image
Rachael demonstrating in the year 2000.  This picture was taken when I was with the Zionist Book Club headed by David Perkins. We were out demonstrating in the year 2000against Ehud Barak's government.  We made a lot of noise during his weekly cabinet meeting. Every week we were in the Rose Garden, saying Psalms, listening to speeches and making noise.  People say that demonstrations don't have an effect, but I think that we annoyed Barak.  His government didn't last long and we made our voice heard. In today's situation, if you don't make your voice heard, then you are one of the ones who agree with the kidnapping of children who were coming home from school to become political pawns.  Is that right?  Is it ethical? Would an Arab woman want her son to be abducted?  I would venture to say no. As Abbas says " We are human too." Start to act like it, residents of Ramallah.   Enter the human race and protest! Show the world that you don't agr

Jerusalem Day, Remember the Har HaBayit

Image
Jerusalem Day Song My prayer is a song A Psalm with an ever-changing Melody Levels of meaning dance around familiar and foreign words I stand in Song and Silence Neither a more prominent communication with G-d Drink the essence, the sweet savor in the unity that is Jerusalem Rachael Alice Orbach Here is how we want to see the Har Habayit, back in Jewish hands, with the Holy Temple built may it be done speedily in our days!  This is like the view if you were sitting on Mt. of Olives, with a super zoom camera.  We need the Cohenim, the Levi'im and all of Am Yisrael to really pray for this to happen!

Lag B'Omer in Jerusalem

Image
When do we light the bonfires for the memory of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai, the writer of the Zohar?  According to the Chief Rabbanate, since there is not a Torah law, nor even a Rabbanic law to light bonfires in his memory, if the 33rd day of the Omer falls on Shabbat, like it did this year, then the bonfires should be pushed off until the next day to avoid any and all violations of Shabbat.  The same applies to Rosh Hashana, Succot and the reading of the Megilla.  These are Torah and Rabbanic customs, and there is no blowing of the Shofar on Shabbat, no waving of the Four Species on Shabbat and no reading of the Megialla on Shabbat.  Also, the contemporary holidays of Israeli Memorial day of the Soldiers and Israeli Independence Day are pushed off a day for the Honor of Shabbat.  This same logic should apply to bonfires.  In the rest of the world, the memorial of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai is not marked with a bonfire, it is against the law to light fires anywhere you want.  If

Model of Jerusalem at the Israel Museum

This is what Jaffa gate used to look like over 2000 years ago.  And when you look up you could have seen the Temple!  We spent Israel's Independence Day there, imagining what it would have been like to have lived in the peaceful time before the Romans came.  . . . Rachael Alice

Blessing on the Trees The Month of Nissan

Image
This is the tree in Givat Shaul where the nice people who live at Kehati 5 planted the cherry tree many years ago.  They put up the proper blessing for passersby to fulfill the commandment to bless the trees of Israel every year in the month of Nissan. As you can see there are flowers on the tree, making this a proper tree to bless at this time.   I stopped by yesterday and blessed.  I have done so every year since I came to Israel.  May you be blessed as you bless the land!  Rachael Alice  http://travelinghairsalon.weebly.com/

Good Morning Jerusalem

Image
I took this picture during my early morning walk in the neighborhood.  The sun is trying to come out and melt all the rest of the snow!  Yes, there are still places where you can see the dirty snow on the sidewalk, that has not yet melted.  I am still wearing boots because sometimes you step into a puddle that you didn't know was there. There is a rumor that there will be another snow storm on the way, but I don't believe it! Today is the Jewish Rosh Hodesh, of the month of Shvat, so in two weeks we will have Tu Bshvat, the New Year of the Trees, which is the beginning of the beginning of spring.
