Jerusalem Scenes

This is a summer sunset that I caught as I was walking home last night. Just think, the sun is 93 million miles away, or 3 * 10 to the 10th kilometers, but Hashem has made our world so beautiful.  This is a fitting end to a hot day. Rachael Alice

 Here is the view at 5:00am!  Dark and beautiful  A little more light . . .  Wow, the mist came in!  Even more mist! The mist now has turned into Fog! Looks like it will be a very cold day. . . Well it turned out to be the hottest day of the year!  40 degrees Celsius!  And it started out so beautiful Shabbat Shalom, Chodesh tov Rachael 

This is the site of the first hospital in Jerusalem. It was established by Rothschild, in 1888, and in 1939 Hadassah took it over.  The building is still standing and is in use as a medical training center.  I was passing by on HaNeviim Street,  and I couldn't resist to take in this bit of Jerusalem history. This Motzi Shabbat was the Third of Tammuz I caught the moon just as it was going down in the west. There is a Jewish prayer that we say on the New Moon, and it is said only for the first seven days!  Bircat Ha Levana!  Bircat because that is the word for blessing, and Levana for the moon.
